There are many hotels located right along Orchard Road such as Hilton, Marriott, and Hotel Jen. Along with your stay, you can visit famous malls such as ION Orchard which has almost everything from high-end stuff to affordable stuff, Takashimaya/Tangs which is one of the largest departmental stores in Singapore, Somerset for foods and drinks, and Paragon for luxury shopping.

1. Uya Japanese Unagi Restaurant

Uya Japanese Unagi Restaurant at Wheelock serves high-quality and fresh eel. You can’t see them kill the eel but you can peek through a small window outside the restaurant to see them handling a live eel. Uya is known for its Hitsumabushi which is basically a chopped-up eel served with condiments and a broth soup. I never liked eel that much before visiting Uya. The eel has a good crispy layer from the charcoal burn and tender fish inside.

2. The Sushi Bar (Ngee Ann City)

The Sushi Bar is probably my top pick in Singapore for the best value quality Japanese restaurant. I have been here quite a bit and their food is consistently fresh and good. Thick and fresh cut of sashimi, salmon Aburi roll, wagyu don, grilled dried puffer fish, and a pint of their Sapporo beer is my regular goto dish. In short, you are getting one of the best Japanese quality cuts of protein/vegetables for a relatively affordable price.

3. MERCI MARCEL ORCHARD

Merci Marcel Orchard has teamed up with Fresh Beauty to bring you a french rose theme cafe. It has an indoor cafe/bar seating area and an outdoor alfresco patio.

The beef burger here is highly recommended. It has an excellent buttered crust bun, a juicy burger, and caramelized onion. If you like sourness, you should try their smoked haddock salad. It is super sour and you can actually taste the smokiness from the fresh fish. The Macaron dessert was made to perfection. A Balance of sweetness and sourness. Drinks here so far have been a little letdown. They also have another branch located in Tiong Bahru with their special Merci Marcel A Bohemian Style Cafe.

4. Thai Tantric Authentic Thai Cuisine

Thai Tantric serves authentic Thai cuisine tucked away in the corner of Orchard Tower. It is probably not the most favorable spot for a restaurant so I would advise going for lunchtime instead. Putting aside the location, their Thai food is perhaps one of the best Thai food in Orchard or even in Singapore, and also served at a reasonable price. I like their fried omelet, green curry, and also their red tom yum soup.

5. Nanbantei Japanese Restaurant (Far East Plaza)

Nanbantei offers authentic slices of yakitori culture. They are also one of the longest-running Japanese yakitori around so which translates into being one of the best Yakitori in Singapore. The restaurant itself has a very cozy and Japanese-decorated woody-style vibe. You can get a front-row seat of your meal prepared before your very eyes and watch the yakitori chefs serve you fresh off the charcoal grill.

Halcyon and Crane cafe takes cafe food to another level. The food quality and uniqueness here are different from your typical cafe. The burrata cheese with ham salad has Spanish serrano ham, honey rock melons, mixed greens, olives, crushed roasted pistachios, and toasted pumpkin seeds with honey mustard dressing. Now that is fancy for cafe food and the best part is that it tasted great. The same goes for the chorizo dish, excellent sourdough bread with bursting umami flavors from the chorizo. Their drinks are also like an experiment with their signature Yuzu Passionfruit Coffee Cube.

Chatterbox has been around in Singapore for 5 decades serving their world-famous chicken rice and more. There are tons of chicken rice shops in Singapore at way lower prices but if you ask me, this is the place for the best chicken rice in Singapore. Their chickens are moist, tender, and have just the right amount of gelatines. The rice here is fluffy, aromatic, and has just the right amount of grease. There are also three sauces given; dark soy sauce, ginger, and chili. Chili here has the right consistency and spice to it while the ginger has a nice gingery kick to it.

12. Sunday Folks ION Orchard

Sunday Folks ION is an experience store with its combination with Bynd Artisan in front which sells craftsman leathers and Sunday Folks sells artisanal ice cream, coffee, and cakes. Their soft-serve ice cream is not only instagramable but also tastes great. The texture of the ice cream here is smooth, and creamy, and has crispy bits with nuts inside. The ice cream reminds me of creamier ice cream but fancier.

Shake Shack is hands down my favorite smash beef burger of all time. Every time I take a bite of their Double Shack burger, flavors start bursting everywhere in my mouth and my head turns to the side. For non-beef eaters, you can try their vegetarian Shroom Burger. It has a crispy mushroom layer and oozes with melted cheese. For drinks, I like their fifty/fifty lemonade, vanilla shake, and their love wild IPA beer.
