Merci Marcel Review

Verdict

Merci Marcel is a bohemian-style cafe offering a French Balinese vibe. The cafe adds its french twist to your typical cafe food and of course, it comes with a slightly higher price tag. The french toast has a good thickness and holds the fruits, nuts, and cream on top well. The caesar salad uses kale instead of your typical lettuce which gives the overall salad a different texture. Great flavors but I still prefer the lettuce. Something surprising was their Tarte Flambee 3, which is basically a thin truffle pizza that has a strong truffle aroma and taste.

Things I like

French Toast. Good thickness and flavorful toast, fresh and sweet berries with whip cream.
Caesar salad has great overall flavors and the use of kale was a nice twist to spice up a classic salad.

Since Merci Marcel is a bohemian-style cafe offering a French Balinese vibe, we got to try their signature French Toast ($20). It has brioche, berries, honey, 20 almond, and homemade whipped cream in it. I like the overall balance of sweetness, sourness, and the whipped cream to gel it all together.

Next, we order their Caesar Salad ($24). It comes with kale, grilled chicken, organic Bayonne ham, organic poached egg, croutons, and aged parmesan. I like the overall flavors of the salad and the use of kale was a nice twist to a classic dish but I still prefer my classic salad using lettuce.

The last dish we order was the Tarte Flambee #3 ($27) which is a thin crust pizza, onion, comté, truffle oil, and artisanal Corsica coppa. I like the thin crispy dough, and the balance of flavor between the truffle and other ingredients used.

For drinks, we got their coffee latte ($6.50). The coffee was smooth with good milk frotting.

We also got their Macha Latte ($7). The drink was a little blend though we order no added sugar, the aroma of the macha itself was not that strong.

The cafe was packed on a weekday lunchtime so lucky we made a reservation. I prefer their patio seating as it was less cramped when compared to their indoor seating. Though it can get quite hot seating on the patio.
