Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice Review

Verdict

Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice has been around in Singapore since 1946. That shows how much the locals love the food. Their multi curry sauce here is the highlight together with their pork chop. Pork belly here has a balance of fats and meat. They also have plenty of choices of other vegetables and proteins such as sotong, prawn and eggplant.

Things I like

  • Flavourful curry sauce
  • Pork chop’s crispy skin and flavour
  • Braised pork belly has a good ratio of fats and meat.

Nitpicking

  • Rice could be more fluffy, aromatic and the temperature could be hotter

I went to Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice alone therefore the portion is all in one plate which looks kind of messy. I ordered pork chop $2.00, Braised Pork $2, Curry Chicken $2 and rice $0.50. A combination of a few different curry sauce was mix together to form a combination of sweetness, mild spiciness and sourness.

I queue for 30 minutes thus I wanted to get my time worth so I order more than what I usually would.

Braised Pork here has a good ratio of fats and meat. The meat was also very tender and flavourful.

The pork chop here is one of my favourite dishes. The skin was crispy but the meat was on the thinner side. Add the curry together with it, I can see why so many people queue for this shop every day.

Lastly, the curry chicken is normal. The meat is a little dry inside so perhaps you can order their sotong or assam fish.

Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice Service

Do expect a long queue when visiting Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice. No matter if is a weekday or weekend, they always seem to have a long queue. I waited for 30 minutes on a weekday at noon time.

Take your time to look at the menu before your turn that way you would not be pressured to order when it is your turn.
