Fat Cow Review

Verdict

Fat Cow is one of Singapore’s top Japanese Fine Dining restaurants. They are known for their premium Japanese Wagyu beef and it really will put a wow and smile on your face. The beef has a rich umami flavour and will melt as soon as it touches your mouth. The beef is so tender that you can tear it by using your lip. The Fat Cow rice was addictive and the donburi was bursting with flavours all over.

Things I like

  • Premium grade wagyu
  • Simple dish make addictive – The Fat Rice
  • Wagyu Sandwich is my favourite. Unique flavour and beef so tender you wonder if you actually bite anything at all.
  • Donburi bursting with flavours.

Nitpicking

  • Service could have been more welcoming and attentive given their hefty price.

Fat Cow Food & Price

Fat Cow Asparagus
Fat Cow Asparagus

For starters, we order their Asparagus $14 as I like to pair asparagus with my beef. Fat Cow’s asparagus was well char, fresh, and crunchy. It comes with a Yuzu Miso on the side and is topped with katsuobushi.

Fat Cow Wagyu Sandwich

The Fat Cow Waygu Sandwich $88 was definitely my favourite dish. The bread was well toasted and buttered. The sirloin wagyu was so tender I was shocked that I ate it so effortlessly. It had some sweet sauce accompanied with it but I prefer it without.

Fat Cow The Fat Rice

Something surprising was The Fat Rice $8. It is cooked in wagyu fat oil which makes the rice rich in umami flavour. Definitely very addictive and I hope to make it myself at home one day.

Fat Cow Premium Donburi Miyazaki A4 Wagyu

Now coming to the main course, we ordered their Fat Cow Premium Donburi 21 Days Dry-aged Nagasaki $128. Now the price is definitely no joke at this point but the ingredients used here are worth the price. Fresh uni, caviar and Miyazaki A4 Wagyu beef. Super rich in flavour and good for sharing with another person.

Fat Cow 21 DAYS DRY-AGED NAGASAKI A5 WAGYU STRIPLOIN
Fat Cow 21 DAYS DRY-AGED NAGASAKI A5 WAGYU STRIPLOIN

Lastly, we had the 21 Days Dry-Aged Nagasaki A5 Wagyu Striploin $168. This high-quality beef has a superb balance between lean and marbled meat.

To be honest, after eating so many fatty fats from the sandwich and donburi, this dry-age was not bursting with the umami flavour I expected but it was definitely tasty, tender and melts in your mouth kind of beef.

Fat Cow Service

Service here was decent, we were the first to arrive with our reservation. Service here was quick as they have to ensure we finish within our allocated time slot for them to turn over our table. For the price we are paying, I was expecting a fine dining hospitality experience here but was let down. Perhaps it was just that day as my friends said it is usually good.
