Por Kee Eating House 1996 Review
Verdict
Por Kee is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Tiong Bahru. Their food here is not only nostalgic but also has good wok hey flavor, is fresh and they have a huge selection of Chinese food. I especially like their cereal prawn, sweet and crunchy cereal with fresh prawns. Their signature long rib is tender, juicy, and sweet. The egg beancurd was also among the best dish here. Nice relaxing outdoor environment in the heart of Tiong Bahru.
Things I like
- Good Wok Hey flavors in their dish.
- Nostalgic Chinese food with a huge variety.
- Cereal Prawn had a generous amount of cereal, cereal was sweet and crunchy with fresh prawns.
- Long pork ribs are tender, juicy, and sweet.
- Egg Beancurd was among the best, with their fried tofu mixed with egg and sauce on a hot plate.
Chapter 55 Food & Price

Por Kee is definitely the hidden gem of Tiong Bahru. They serve a huge variety of classic Chinese dishes which we all had when we were young.
To start, we order their Garlic Fried Kalian($12). It was a tad bit over cook so the vegetables were slightly soft but the flavors were on point.

Their Dragon Chives with garlic ($12) was perfect. Good crunch, garlic, and seasoning were on point.

Por Kee is famous for two types of bean curd. One is their Mixed Beancurd ($14) in a clay pot.

Another is their Beancurd With Egg ($12) on a hotplate. I personally love their beancurd with egg, is a definite must try.

Next, we order their signature Pork Long Ribs ($11). It is slightly on the higher price but considering the size and taste, it was worth it. The pork was tender, juicy, and sweet from the sauce.

Save the best for last, their Cereal Prawn ($24) is definitely one of the highlights at Por Kee. I like the sweet and crunchy cereal. They were also very generous with the cereal which can go well with any other protein. The prawns were on the smaller side but at least it was fresh.

For drinks, we got their Tiger Beer ($9.00) and Chinese Tea ($2.00).
Por Kee Service & Ambient
Service here was relatively fast. We were there just before the dinner crowd so the food was served within 20 minutes of ordering. The cereal prawn took some time to get to us but was well worth the wait.
The restaurant has outdoors and indoors, I personally prefer their outdoors with fresh air, space and less noise.
