Tiong Bahru Bakery Review
Verdict
Tiong Bahru Bakery is one of Singapore’s best bakery chains. Over the past few years, they have expanded from 1 store to 9 stores.
They are famous for their pastry such as Kouign Amann, Croissant, and Tarts. Though they have multiple locations, do expect long queues during weekends.
I like that all pastries are reheated in the oven before serving. The flavors are well balanced, and their pastry is crispy.
Things I like
- Variety of pastries.
- All pastries are reheated before serving.
- The quality and standard of pastry are consistently good
Nitpicking
- Inconsistency in coffee taste
- Prices are on the high side
Tiong Bahru Bakery Food & Price

Tiong Bahru Bakery has a variety of viennoiserie pastry at their display counter to choose from. There is always something special about walking into a bakery shop as soon as you entered, you can smell all the pastry.

Aside from viennoiserie, they also have sandwiches and buns.

Towards the end of the queue, you can find a few selections of desserts.

I ordered their famous Kouign Aman($5.30) which is a layered pastry coated with sugar to make it hard and sweet. It feels kind of like puff pastry, crunchy on the bite, and soft inside. The flavors are well balanced between the sweetness, butter, and pastry.

Next, we order their Green Tea Almond Croissant($6). The aroma of the almonds is very fragrant, however, the green tea filling is a little dry to the bite.

Their Ham and Cheese Bun($10.5) is surprisingly tasty. The Buns are well toasted which makes them crispy on the outside but fully on the inside. There was a generous amount of ham rolled inside and you can taste it with every bite. The combination of the ham, cheese, and a hint of mustard goes very well together.

For dessert, we order their Lemon Tart($7.90). The texture of the lemon curd filling is creamy and has a good kick of sourness. The pastry tart has a crumbly, sweet, and cookie-like crust.

For Drinks, we got a flat white coffee ($5.70) and a sour power juice($7.80). Coffee taste varies between my visit here but their juice tastes fresh and concentrated.
