Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee Review
Verdict
Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee has a combination of sweet, sour and saltiness involved which makes this dish punching with flavours. The noodle was cooked slightly on the wet side. Chilli has a mild spice to it. Sotong is rather small but has a nice chewy texture to it. The dish overall could use some “Wok Hei” to it.
Things I like
- Balance taste of saltiness, spice and sweetness
Nitpicking
- Prawn mee could use more “Wok Hei” to it.
Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee Food & Price

Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee has three sizes $4.00, $5.00 and $6.00. I order their $5.00 portion which can be shared with another person if you are ordering other food.

The noodles are cooked in small batches upon order and it has a good firm texture to them. It is cooked slightly on the wet side, I would have preferred it to be slightly dryer.
Those who expect a “Wok Hei” taste maybe slightly disappointed. Though he was using a traditional wok to cook, it lacks the wok hei touch to it.

Their homemade chilli has a mild spice to it and leans toward the sweeter side.

A few strips of fish cake and sotong are cooked together.
Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee Service
Do expect a long queue here during peak hours. I waited 30 minutes on a weekday at noon time.
There was only one person present so he has to cook, serve and do cashier duty at once.
