Smiths Authentic British Fish and Chips Review

Verdict

Smiths is one of Singapore’s restaurant that specializes in selling as the name suggest “Authentic British Fish and Chips”. They use COD and Haddock fish which is commonly used in the United Kingdom. The small fish was good enough for one and the big fish is good for two. The fish are fresh, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. Their fries are between our usual Asian thin fries and wedges, soft and full texture. Their Pork sausage was bursting with flavours that leave me wanting more.

Things I like

  • Fresh Fish
  • Crispy fish skin and tender meat.
  • Pork Sausage was bursting with flavours
  • Selections of beers

Nitpicking

  • Fish meat was a little dry inside.

Smiths Food & Price

Smiths Fish and Chips
Smiths Fish and Chips

Smiths Haddock and chips small ($23.50) has a very crispy skin. The fish meat was tender which is great as you can taste the actual fish rather than just eating flour. Though I would have preferred it to be a little moister inside.

According to Smith’s website, their fries are cut fresh daily. Their fries are a thick cut which sits in-between our thin fries and wedges, soft and fluffy.

Smiths Sausages

I decided to add some pork sausages to go along with the food and I am glad I did. The mini pork sausage in a basket of 6 pieces ($14.00) was bursting with flavours. Crispy skin and juicy meat with many herbs inside.

Smiths IPA Beer and Lemonade
Smiths IPA Beer and Lemonade

You can’t get fish and chips without a glass of Summer IPA Beer ($15.50) and homemade lemonade ($8). This is one of my favourite IPA beers and it goes very well with the dish ordered.

Smiths Service

Service was quick as there were no questions during my visit. The staff were friendly and we got all our food within 15 minutes.
