Jian Bo Shui Kueh Mee Review
I have been eating this Jian Bo shui kueh ever since I was young. Though the review online may not be good, it is still the best Shui Kueh for me. The steamed rice cakes have a good medium-firm texture. Their chye poh (preserved radish) is sinfully good as it is covered with oil that has a good aroma and a good amount of saltiness. Chilli here has a medium spice and sweetness to it.
Things I like
- Good texture rice cake
- Good balance of saltiness and sweetness from the chye poh and chilli
- Consistency of the dish. Sometimes the steamed rice cake is slightly over cook which makes it too soft. Sometimes the dish comes with too much oil which makes you feel too Jelak
Jian Bo Shui Kueh Food & Price
Shui Kueh or more commonly know as Chwee Kuey is a steamed rice cake topped with chye poh and chilli on the side.
Jian Bo has a minimum order of 5 pieces $3.00 and two other sizes 8 pieces for $4.80 and 10 pieces for $6.00. I usually go for 3 to 5 pieces and share the rest with others.
On a good day, the texture of the steamed rice cake has a medium firmness to it. The chye poh is covered with aromatic oils and has a good amount of saltiness to it. Mixed it together with the chilli and you have the perfect combination of sweet, salty and spice to it.
Jian Bo Shui Kueh Service
Service here is rather quick. I usually wait around 10 minutes to get my order.
