Zhong Yu Yuan Wei Wanton Mee Review
Verdict
Zhong Yu Yuan Wei Wanton Mee is known for their premium cut of Char Siew from the pigs’ armpit. I arrived just after 12.30 pm and their premium char siew is already sold out thus I got the normal version. The normal char siew was pretty good with a small number of fats and good char on it. The noodle was thin and has a springy texture. Chilli here has a mild spice to it. The overall dish was on the mild flavour side with good char siew and noodles.
Things I like
- Noodle has a good springy texture.
- Char Siew has a good amount of fat and char to it.
Nitpicking
- I felt that most people wouldn’t notice their premium char siew or their special type of bu Jian tian noodle. It would be great to display them in imagery form.
- Noodle sauce could use a little more flavouring.
Zhong Yu Yuan Wei Wanton Mee Food & Price
It was my first visit to Zhong Yu Yuan Wei Wanton Mee so I was not aware they had a special type of Bu Jian Tian Noodles and premium pig’s arm put a cut of char siew. This was their normal char siew wanton mee ($5).
The char siew though normal still was quite tasty with a good amount of fats and char to it.
Noodle has a good springy texture but the dish overall was drenched in a mild savoury sauce. I am used to the Malaysian style of wanton mee though I know is very different in terms of cooking method and flavouring.
Do come before 11:30 am if you want to try their premium char siew as it usually sells out by noon.
Chilli here has a mild spice to it.
The dumpling here was average. Again flavouring overall was on the lighter side.
Cut green chilli deep in some vinegar goes well with the dish.

Do expect to queue for this wanton mee. Though the queue was short about 4 people in front, the waiting time was about 15 minutes.
