Hainanese Delicacy Chicken Rice Review
Verdict
Hainanese Delicacy primarily serves one main dish, their famous Hainanese steam chicken. Chicken is smooth, tender and has just the right amount of seasoning. The xiao bai cai in oyster sauce is fresh and cook to perfection. I would have preferred the rice to be warmer instead of room temperature. If you crave a good plate of Hainanese chicken rice, this is the shop for you.

Hainanese Delicacy Chicken Food & Price

Hainanese Delicacy’s famous Hainanese steam chicken ($15 for a quarter) is one of the best chickens in Singapore. Their meat is tender, smooth, juicy and well seasoned.
The gelatinase of the meat is also lesser here, while some might prefer it but I personally like it with minimum to no gelatine feel to their skin. The taste of this chicken reminds me of the famous Hainanese chicken I had in Melaka, Malaysia which has rich flavors to it.

Their rice ($0.80) was fragrant, fluffy and had just the right amount of oil in it. If they can serve their rice warmer, it would definitely be a great plate of rice.

I was expecting the typical chicken rice soup that we normally get in a chicken rice shop. However, Hainanese Delicacy soup tastes more like ginger with a hint of sweet potato and chicken flavor soup. It tastes great but I would have preferred the typical chicken rice soup.

Hainanese Delicacy is also known for its xiao bai cai in oyster sauce ($3). The portion is generous for a 3 dollar size. Xiao bai cai comes with vegetables mixed with oyster sauce, water, sesame oil, salt and topped with fried shallot. The texture and flavor of this dish in on point.

Lastly, their chili has a medium body texture and is slightly on the spicier side. The minced ginger lacks the ginger punchiness to it.
Hainanese Delicacy Service
The hospitality here could be improved as we felt a little weird entering the shop. Irritated faces and no attentive server to take the order. It kind of felt like I was in Hong Kong whereby this is just the way they are, come in have a good meal and leave fast. However, the speed of the food being served was impressively fast.
