Drips Bakery Cafe Review

Verdict

Drips Bakery Cafe specializes in tarts and all their tarts are nestled on carefully handcrafted tart shells made with luxurious French butter. Asides from tart, their nasi lemak is also surprisingly good with crispy tenders, sweet and spicy sambal, and fragrant coconut rice. I would probably skip their mushroom pie and replace it with their signature seasonal fruit tart. Their cold drip coffee has a good balance of bitterness and coffee intensity. Lastly, their yuzu macha was something different, love the way they make the flavor balance where you can actually taste the macha and yuzu together.

Things I like

  • Cozy and Quiet cafe
  • Great tart with excellent crust and flavor
  • Nasi lemak. Tender and crispy chicken, sweet and spicy with good consistency of sambal.

Nitpicking

  • Mushroom pie could use more filling and seasoning
  • Staff should recommend or highlight their specialty

Drips Bakery Cafe Baked Cheese Tart

As Drips Bakery Cafe is a tart specialist, we definitely have to start with that. We ordered their cheese tart ($9.90), it has a good shell thickness that is not too hard nor too soft, just the right texture to hold the tart together. The flavors are on point, a combination of cheese, butter, creaminess, and strawberry goes perfectly well together.

Drips Bakery Cafe Mushroom Chicken Pie

It has been a while since I ate a good pie, so hopes were a little high to try their mushroom chicken pie ($6.50). It has a nice crust but the filling inside needed more seasoning, creaminess, and proteins.

Drips Bakery Cafe Nasi Lemak

Their nasi lemak ($13.80) was surprisingly good. The chicken is tender, crispy, and moist inside. Rice was fragrant, otak-otak was flavourful and the sambal had the right texture with a good balance of sweet and sour.

Drips Bakery Cafe Cold Drips Coffee

For drinks, the cold drip coffee ($5.00) has a good balance of coffee intensity and bitterness.

Drips Bakery Cafe Ice Yuzu Macha

Their Yuzu Macha ($6.50) is something refreshing. I am always up for a yuzu-related drink. At first, it sounds weird, mixing macha with yuzu but it was pleasantly decent.

Drips Bakery Cafe Service & Ambient

There was no queue on a weekday lunchtime and the cafe was running at 70% occupancy. The staff was friendly but would have preferred if he had recommended their specialty as they have quite the spread, we spend some time deciding what to order.

The overall layout was on a smaller side which makes it cozy. The people in the cafe were also surprisingly quiet which makes the experience more enjoyable.
