Chapter 55 Review [CLOSED]

Things I like

• Vongole spaghetti here, it has fresh and clean clams, al-dente pasta, and a good balance of flavors.
• Thin crust pizza with a generous amount of cheese.
• Good value Italian food with above average Italian food.

Chapter 55 Food & Price

Chapter 55 is one of the good value Italian restaurants to be at in Singapore, especially if you are in the Tiong Bahru area. For starters, we order their classic mushroom soup ($7.80). Freshly blended mushroom simmered in a creamy broth alongside a stick of crispy garlic bread.

The buffalo wings ($15.80) comes in their homemade spicy herbs buffalo sauce. It tastes sweet, spicy, and sticky so if you can’t handle your spice, you probably feel it is too spicy but regular spice eater, the spice is just nice. To my surprise, even though the wings are covered in their thick sauce, the wings are still crispy.

My favorite dish in Chapter 55 has got to be their Vongole Spaghetti ($17.80). First of the clams are fresh and properly clean. This is very important as clams have sand in them and if are not cleaned properly, it could ruin the whole dish. The pasta here is also al-dente which is my preferred doneness for my pasta and most importantly, the flavors are on point, a hint of spice, sweetness, and bitterness from the wine.

For those people who love themself a good cheesy beef lasagne ($19.80), this is the one for you. A generous serving of cheese, mild-medium beefy taste, and a good balance of tomato.

Lastly, you got to try their Margherita pizza ($16.80). It passed the cheese pull test and has a good thin and crispy crust. It would be great if they could use fresher basil leaves.

For drinks, we got their homemade ice lemon tea ($7.00) and a full pint of Sapporo beer ($11.80).

Chapter 55 Service & Ambient

Service here was relatively fast. We were there just before the dinner crowd so the food was served within 15 minutes of ordering. The restaurant has a cafe vibe to it and has minimum soundproofing items so the restaurant can get quite loud when it’s filled. Also, props to the person with excellent music choice here.
