Ah Chiang Porridge Review
Verdict
Ah Chiang Porridge has been around since the 1960s and this shop has been operating in Tiong Bahru since 1971. The porridge texture is slightly on the sticky side with minced pork and fish. Proteins are so minced you could barely feel them so would prefer if they did not mince it so much. Youtiao is crispy and fluffy inside. Overall, a simple minimalistic porridge shop.
Things I like
- Texture, taste, and heat of the porridge
- Crispy Youtiao
Could Improve
- Pork and fish were minced too much
- The flavor of the chicken could use more seasoning
Ah Chiang Porridge Food & Price

Ah Chiang porridge has been around Tiong Bahru since the 1960s and is conveniently located near the Tiong Bahru Market.

We ordered their fried garlic kailan ($10.00). Simple and fresh with good garlic flavoring.

Ah Chiang is known for their Mixed Pork Porridge boasts fresh pig liver, pig intestines, and pork slices that are cooked to perfection. We order their pork ($4.50) and sliced fish ($6.50) porridge. It had a good consistency texture with a decent flavor profile and it was served piping hot. The dish could have been much better if the pork and fish given was bigger, you could barely taste it at this point.

Their Youtiao ($3.00) was crunch and fluffy inside.

Lastly, we got their Hainanese chicken ($12.00). The chicken was on the colder side which Singaporean love but personally not for me. The flavor was slightly on the milder side and the meat was yet again sliced too thin which makes every bite feels like not enough meat feeling.

For drinks, we got their sour plum ($1.70).
Ah Chiang Porridge Service
We were here on a weekday dinner time, there was no queue and the restaurant was 60% occupied. Food was served within 10 minutes of ordering.
